Neil Armstrong: A giant among men. (x)
I was at my boyfriend’s house for dinner the other night, and his family and I were talking about the death of Neil Armstrong and how after he was on the moon, his life wouldn’t have been the same because he’d always be ‘Neil Armstrong - first man on the moon.’ But it’s things like the ones above that really interest me about him (and all astronauts, really). Detaching yourself from Earth and going the furthest anybody has ever gone from it, to turn back, and see it so helpless and insignificant… I couldn’t imagine. It’s such a deep level of perspective which would undoubtedly motivate immense introspection, and I wish there had been more focus on Armstrong’s emotional journey during the media attention he received throughout his life.
